Chevy Equinox

With so many similar vehicles to choose from these days, figuring out which one to buy can be daunting. If you’re in the market for a compact SUV, it pays to put a couple of them head-to-head to see how they match-up. Here we take a look at the new Chevy Equinox for sale and compare it to the Ford Escape in terms of tech and safety:

Tech

You’ll find many advanced tech features in the Chevy Equinox. First of all, you will get an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen. It is very easy to use and responds quickly to inputs. Plus, the physical controls for the climate and stereo volume are simple to operate while driving. Other standard tech components include:

• Satellite radio
• A six-speaker stereo
• Wireless Android Auto™
• Wireless Apple CarPlay®
• Bluetooth®
• Push-button start
• Keyless entry
• Four USB ports

You can also get navigation, an eight-inch touchscreen, and wireless device charging. The Ford Escape comes with a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen infotainment system display. And to get smartphone connectivity, satellite radio, or push-button start, you need an upgrade.

Safety

The Chevy Equinox is built with safety in mind, which is why it is a favorite of families. Every model comes with:

• Automatic high-beam headlights
• A rearview camera
• Forward collision warning
• Forward automatic emergency braking
• Lane departure warning
• Lane keep assist
• Pedestrian detection
• The Teen Driver system
• Rear-seat alert

Blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert can all be added. The Ford Escape has some of the same safety systems, but a rear-seat alert isn’t among them.
