There are many reasons to consider a Chevy EV when the time comes for a more efficient car. EV models can help reduce your environmental impact and save on fuel costs, and Scott Chevrolet is here to help make the transition smooth and easy. Learn everything you need to know about EV ownership at our dealership today, like how to charge your favorite EV model.
Decide the Charge Level
You have three charging levels to pick from.
• Level 1 charging uses a regular 120-volt outlet; it’s convenient but slow.
• Level 2 charging uses a 240-volt setup that requires professional installation; you can use it to charge a PHEV or EV overnight.
• Level 3 DC Fast Charging uses higher voltages than home systems can handle; it’s only found at public stations.
Decide Where You’re Charging
Once you’ve decided how you’ll charge your vehicle, you must choose where to do it. Level 2 chargers can be installed at home and are common at public charging stations. Level 3 chargers are somewhat less common, but they’re still easy to find using the myChevrolet® mobile app.
Plug the Vehicle In
Charging your vehicle is much like charging your phone or another electronic device, right down to using an adaptor. Some EVs will require an additional dongle to transition between Level 2 and Level 3 chargers. Chevy EVs are designed with built-in power management to prevent overcharging, but if you’re at a public station, it’s common courtesy not to leave your EV plugged in past its allotted time.
