Chevy Traverse

Can’t decide which midsize SUV to buy? Check out this Chevy Traverse review that compares this Chevy SUV to the Ford Explorer.

Power and Performance

The Chevy Traverse has a potent 3.6-liter V6 engine that pumps out 310 horsepower. In addition to great power, this SUV has excellent acceleration. It also has very responsive steering and surprising nimbleness for a big vehicle.

The Ford Explorer comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 300 horsepower—inferior performance that just can’t compete.

Comfort

You’ll have no problem fitting everybody in your Chevy Traverse, as it’s available in either a seven- or eight-passenger configuration.

Plus, all rows have a lot of space, and the third row is easy to access. The Ford Explorer has three rows as well, but the third row is best left for children. It will also only fit up to seven people.

Cargo Space

You won’t find another midsize SUV with more cargo space than the Chevy Traverse. It offers 23 cubic feet behind the third row, 57.8 cubic feet when it’s down, and a total of 98.2 cubic feet with all rear seats folded.

The Ford Explorer offers 18.2 cubic feet behind its third row, 47.9 cubic feet when they are folded, and 87.8 cubic feet of space with both rear rows down.

Tech

The Chevy Traverse is loaded with tech. Every model comes with:

• A Wi-Fi hot spot
• Satellite radio
• Wireless Android Auto™
• Wireless Apple CarPlay®
• 6 USB ports
• Proximity keyless entry
• A 7-inch touchscreen
• A 6-speaker stereo
• Push-button start
• Bluetooth®

The Ford Explorer only comes with two USB ports. And the smartphone connectivity isn’t wireless. To see how else the Chevy Traverse tops the Ford Explorer, come down to Allentown Chevrolet dealership to check out this model in person.
